Cat Whiskers

Yes they are worth it. If you have string leeches on your bow now, they are fine too. IMO cat whiskers last longer. Try them and see if you like them.

They are the quietest string silencers , but they are also the heaviest and add weight to the string . If you have a string stopper/STS or may not notice that much difference because the string stopper reduces the string vibration .

yep as soon as the sts caught on string silencers took the back seat. Still a good thing to have if you feel it's helping, but they will cause a drop in speed due to the added weight on the string as Radar pointed out. But hey! the deer don't care how fasy your bow is.

UTGrad - you have speed to burn. Some cat whiskers would likely be very good for your bow.

Yep, I shot through two different chronos and got 284-285 fps. I guess I would lose maybe 5 fps with the cat whiskers. I wonder if Archery Den has them?

Hey bud, I actually just had some new ones put on just the other day, and I am sure Radar can remember me talking about these in the spring. For our blackhawks, you just CAN NOT keep the stupid things on. The bottom one just doesnt seem to be able to stand the STS on our blackhawks. I have tied them on and it lasted honestly 20 shots, and I had them glued on and they did last a little bit longer but the bottom one ended up coming off again. It is UNreal how quiet they make the blackhawk!! I can tell a huge difference between just the STS and then the whiskers. Im gonna try string leaches or if anyone has any other ways to keep the whiskers on and in tact im sure UT would like to know as well as I would..hope this helps bud

How do you have them on? If you just inserted them between strands of your bowstring, wrap and tie them with serving or floss.

My bow isn't as fast as yours, but mine has been on my PSE Thunderbolt for 7 years and shows no sign of leaving.

I will definately try to get the next ones served into the string. Like I was saying the top one stays on like a charm, but the bottom one, im guessing cause its so close to the STS, its too much vibration.

I'm sure the Archery Den or any good pro shop can tie them on good . Darrel at Steve's Gun and Archery used to do a really good job with them and they looked pretty afterwards . He could make a nice small puff ball the way he trimmed them .

Keep me informed UTGrad, let me know how they hold up for you. Radar does have a point, any GOOD shop should be able too, im starting to doubt mine..lol.

I got mine put on today but it wasn't served into the string, just tied on. The top one did stay in place, but the bottom one slides down the string to the serving above the cam after a few shots. I can slide it back up no problem, just have to keep an eye on ho much it is moving.

yeah, that was pretty much the same problems I was having. I had them tied on with some serving and even glued them I think and all that did was make them tear off. Its wierd. Has to be the sudden stop of the STS, Sucks that it didnt stay but im glad I wasnt sounding stupid earlier.

You might be able to tie several half hitch knots with serving string above and below the silencer to keep it in place.
