Hey guys, im taking my son catfishing this weekend and was just wondering if any of y'all have used dip bait before? Have heard good reviews but thought I'd check y'all. Have a great weekend fellas.

I use prepared baits (dip and punch) almost exclusively for catching channel cats.

What type of place you fishing? Pond, lake or river?

I prefer punch baits; my favorites are CJ's Monster Bait and Sudden Impact. But, I have caught fish on a wide range and never noticed much of a difference in catch rates.

If I'm using dip bait, I go with Sonny's.

Thanks. I am fishing in a pond, guessing about 3 acres. I bought some Secret-7 dip bait.

Secret Seven and Sudden Impact are the same except for consistency. Both are made by Team Catfish.

How do you know???

One benefit of punch bait is that it's easier to keep off of you. I can't use dip bait without accidentally getting some on me, but I can stay clean with punch bait. I don't really care though. What's a little stank matter anyway when you're catching fish?

I've read some info about Danny Kings. Heard that at one point he sold the company and the quality went down. But, Danny got involved in production again and the quality returned.

What has your experience been using his bait?

If fishing with younger kids, I always like to spend 10-15 minutes digging worms with them to use as a backup bait. It gives you more options, and you can usually catch bream with them if the catfish don't cooperate.

As far as dip bait goes, I've never tried it. Not sure why... I see plenty of people that do really well with it.

I bought a gallon sized bucket of DK'S 5-6 years ago..I caught fish every time I used it for2 years until a storm came through and blew my bucket of bait into the river..

I use the original but today I ordered garlic and blood just to see if they were any better .you take a treble hook and punch it down into the bait and pull it out.it has wool type fibers in it that hang on the hook so you don't have to touch it.

Thanks Pressfit for the info

Just a little update from the trip. To say that Im sold on dip bait is a huge understatement. I have fished for cats for the last 30 years. I can honestly say I have never used another bait that triggers the bite like this stuff does! We ended up with 16 channels from 2-8 lbs in a little over 3 hrs. Awesome trip and a memory that my son will cherish. Thanks for all the input guys.
