Caught this guy on a spinning rod with 20 lb braid with a 10 lb leader fishing a small jigging spoon for yellow bellies and stripe. Took around 45 minutes to get him in. What do you think he will weigh? 49" long and 32" around.

Wow that had to be fun
Didn't think I was ever going to get it in the boat. It came to the surface in about 15 minutes but then went straight to the bottom (28') and set there. I mean didn't move an inch for the next 20 minutes. Good times.

Based on formula, 62.72 lbs. Biologists often use this formula to calculate catfish (and other fish) weights: Length x Girth x Girth /800 = Weight. In this case, 49x32x32/800=62.72 lbs. Cross-checking against digital scales I have found the formula to be accurate +- 5%. The variable usually comes in how well you measure... and I actually do not know if you are supposed to measure to the fork of the tail, or the tip. I would assume to the fork would provide the greatest accuracy. NICE fish, no matter what the weight!
