haven't posted in a while, but got to wondering on public land drawn hunts how many people ever use cover scent, doe estru, buck scent or any other type of lures? Does anyone rattle, grunt, doe bleat? If you do I wonder what the success rate on mature or any buck they may have had. As I have said I wonder what the effects are on the success rate are for this type of hunt. It maybe possible that to scout hard play the wind and good old fashion luck maybe the best game plan instead of any type of gimmick because of lack of preparation for the drawn hunt. I do know that some drawn hunts may only allow you one day to scout as does Oakridge. Thanks for reading hope this will be an interesting conversation. Good luck to all this year and safe hunting.

Id say in those type of situations id avoid any unnecessary disturbance. Get there early, stay late, and go where the deer will end up when pressure hits the access points

I don't make any sounds, often times I'll spray some deer urine around close to my stand.
Only once have I seen it work 100% when a buck (9pt) came in with his hair all bristled up, and his ears laid back. I'd used buck bomb that morning and he wasn't at all happy with the scent of another buck.

That's awesome to hear. I've used ever calm for 3 yrs now and had great success killed a 8 pt good buck not giant this year opening evening muzzleloader 6 deer down wind they never new I was there. Good to hear your story just interesting to find out.
