So I have two cell cams. At 20 bucks a month, I want to have em both in decent spots to get my money's worth.
I had one sitting in the truck, so on Monday I went into one of my doe spots to hang the camera. The plan was to hang it, then leave and drive down the road to another doe spot and try to kill a doe.
Anyway, I jumped a couple deer on my way in to hang the camera, so I decided to sit down for a while and think it over.
I sat in the shade about 10 yards from the cell cam, and by 1:40pm I had a yearling buck come by in front of the camera. My phone went off sending me pics while I watched him.
Long story short, I saw 7 different deer that afternoon, all within 10-15 yards. Got most of them sent to my phone from the cell cam while I was watching em, and shot a doe at 12 yards with the 30-30.
I decided to leave the camera in there just to keep an eye on the place without having to go in there and leave scent every time I want to check the camera. I've had several deer show up since I left on Monday evening, but interestingly the daytime movement dropped off since I left. Might be coincidence, but I think it may well have something to do with me being in there, leaving scent everywhere and walking into the main bedding area to track my doe.
Ain't much else to it, I just thought it was kinda cool. I wish I'd set the camera on video mode, that woulda been nice.
The lead doe in the first pic is the one I shot. Blew the heart
