Fellow bowhunters,

A local USDA Forest Service recreation area has shortened its bowhunting season 12 days. This change was made with no public input, no explanation and no scientific reasons for the change.
As TN bowhunters this decision and the way it was made has alarmed us a little.
We have put together an on-line petition to gather signatures to let the USDA Forest Service know that their actions and decisions are not made in a vacuum and that we as citizens and users of the public land would like a voice in their decision making process.

The Tennessee Traditional Archery Society (TTAS) would like you to join us in signing the petition. The petition can be found at the link below.

Thank you. United we stand

Just looked at LBL website. They are still going to be open over 10 days each month aren't they?

Just to set the record straight.

There WAS public input... just not very much. That is why these goofy closed dates were put in there. The people who did speak up and send in comments and suggestions pushed this. Overall, Hunters suck when it comes to being proactive about our public hunting.

I agree that closing it 5 days prior to a hunt is crazy.

WELL, since there is almost continous hunting from the beginning of archery to the end of the last gun it doesnt make sense from the standpoint of how everything else is done.

u guys still crying over this...they asked for input and u said nothing..to me i like it this yr because i should get drawn..but ask yourself does it matter was u even going to be there the 5 days before the hunts anyway..u lost 12 days out of the whole yr..from sept to jan..wow...

Signed - How would someone have known to speak up against this issue ? I would have never guessed that this change would have happened so I sure wouldn't have known to voice a contrary opinion ?
