A young buddy of mine and I made the trek to middle tn this morning. Thankfully the rain avoided us. He hasn't scored yet and me and another friend had been trying to put him in front of one.
On the second setup we had the classic hunt. Two gobblers came into the field opposite us and took at least 30 minutes to come the 150 yards. I wish I had put out the hen deke but had not. We didn't have great cover but enough. I worked the aluminum call each time they would veer off. I didn't risk videoing or trying to double as I didn't want to mess up his opportunity.
They gobbled their heads off demanding the hen show herself. They finally gave in and he took the shot at 45 steps.
He was light weighted esp for over there. Just shy of 17 lbs but a full 10" beard and 1 1/8" spurs.
