Check Out Our British Cousins Opinion on Bow Huntn

LOL! I wonder why they are all against it? I guess they dont realize that you can make a bad shot with a rifle and not find the animal either. Need some education over there.

The reason they are opposed to it has nothing to do actually with ethics. It is a deeply hidden agenda. They believe that if bow hutning hunting were legal, much of their private land would open to bowhunting. As it is, it is on the European system and strictly regulated. It goes back to the belief (maybe valid) that bow hunting will not affect the population dynamics. And because of that, many of the estates that are now private, would be opened to bow hutning at a greatly reduced price.

At least, that is how it was explained to me.

Australia takes an entirely different view. There is no gun hunting there. So, all hunting is either bow or spear. But even more interesting, the native animals are not legal game. The only animals you can hunt are the ones that have been imported. Fortuantely, there are plenty of them.

I write for an Australian bowhunting magazine and was amazed when I found out just how many animals they have that are not native to Oz. Hunting is cheap, too. It is just expensive to get there and travel to hunt the different species.

As a BTW- just for the enjoyment of reading, if you can get an issue of South Pacific Bowhunter, I'm sure you will get a kick out of reading it. I have no idea what it costs USA but it is a huge publication, 228 pages in the last issue and is packed with hunting stories. It is a full color, slick publication, published twice a year. You might get info on how to buy one at www.southpacificbowhunter.com
