How does cold weather affect spring turkey hunting? Or does it? Saturday is our opener for VA and it's going to be a high of 40 and chance of snow.

Do you guys change your plans or just hunt ?

Well I don't know about the snow part that may be tuff on them.
I'm probably in the minority here but I prefer the cool crisp and even frosty mornings. I seem to be more successful or at least have more vocal workable birds.

Hunted 29 degrees one morning last year heard a few on limb and was working one on the ground till 2 guys snuck in and spooked him

Generally I hear better gobbling the colder it is...generally. I like the frosty mornings myself, although I'm either too cold at the start or too hot by the time I'm done!

I've had some good hunts in spitting snow. The first gobbler I ever called up was in April spitting snow, it's not to uncommon on the Northern Plateau.

I haven't seen a correlation with the weather yet. Some days the birds are hot and some days they are cold. Today the weather was beautiful, but a lot cooler than yesterday. Birds gobbled much less today. Had one gobble at a crow and then gobble at my call and then he went quiet again, everything else was quiet, even the songbirds barely sung.
