Colder weather

Haven't gotten to go yet since this cold front moved in. Hoping to be able to get out tomorrow, think they should be moving around looking for does coming in for the secondary rut.

Cant wait to get to Jackson county this weekend it will be the first hunt of the year for me and probably the only one. Just glad to be able to get away with Dad and my not so little brother for the weekend. Hopefully second rut will be kicking off there.

Seems they hunkered down here. But that's par for the course. I find the warming up period immediately after a cold snap to be the best deer movement. That probably butts conventional wisdom but it's been my experience nonetheless.

I agree. Seems like a sudden temperature change kinda slows things down for a day or two, but then again that's just my observations and there are no absolutes in hunting.

My experience this morning, it was roughly 27* with a slight breeze every so often. I thought it was going to be great but not a thing besides two dead coyotes that got a little close. I left the woods at roughly 12:30 this afternoon temps were about 42* and saw plenty of does in fields in the sun and saw a nice solid body 8 tailing 3 does across a field at 1:00 pm. This was Franklin county

I've made similar observations. Cold snaps will sometimes slow down deer movement but a warm afternoon they will come out in droves.

Unseasonably cold temps can shut down deer movement completely.

Nothing on cameras since the 3rd. Today plenty of activity.

I seen a great buck nose to the ground today on my way home from work. Had 4 different bucks on camera on the same trail. pics were yesterday morning. I know a group of doe's bed at. So what do y'all think might be another round of estrous going on. All the bucks were nose to the ground one was rubbing a cedar it looked like. 2 were young 3 and 4 point. Had a decent 6 one side broke off. And a shooter 8 at 5:30am. Never seen any of these on camera before.

Seen nada this morning in west Tennessee. Squirrels aren't even moving.
They moved pretty well here this morning between just before 8:00 and about 9:20. Saw several does, and only one buck. The buck was a 1.5 year old that fed, and did not stay on the same route the does had been on.
