Why is it that most vol fans I know don't like basketball? Is it because the vols have never been "great" on the court, or is basketball just a secondary sport to football? Even when Bruce Pearl was the coach vol fans were never into basketball that big. Now that he's gone, vol fans talk about pearl the way they do Peyton manning. I hear lots of comments from vol fans like "it's just basketball" or "basketball don't matter, real ball starts in September". Everyone wanted to fire cuonzo and then he took the vols to the sweet sixteen. I think the vols have a coach in place now that can take them to new heights on the court and no one seems to care. They have knocked off a couple of good teams with less talent than they've had in years and not much of a peep!
What gives?

Many are football only.

I don't get in to it much until after the Super Bowl, then I will watch a few games if I'm not playing something.

But, keep in mind that UT has had the second most bball attendance averages for several years, even with lackluster results.

Don't start on Cuonzo. Just look at what he has done at Cal. They are ready to get rid of him but are fearful of the treatment UT got ;) :D !

I'll watch any college basketball game that's on and right now it's Oregon.
Not quite sure what I think about their floor? It is definitely wild looking!
Think I like it! Maybe?

There's a lot of Lady Vol Fans. They are blowing up the Sports radio call in shows after getting beat. There are several that want to fire Holly and are losing their minds over women's basketball.

That floor is ok once you figure out what it is.

I'm a vol basketball fan try to watch every game unless work gets in the way :tu:

I think Rick Barnes has did a heck of a job so far, the record don't show it, but it's only year 1, his already won some nice SEC games Florida,Kentucky, south Carolina, etc..... Can't wait to see Where he can take this team when he gets a recruiting class or two in his system.

He's got those guys playing well. It's scary to think what he COULD do with the right guys.

Lady vols have always had a huge following. Rightfully so.

I just dont care for basketball and never have. I'm a football and baseball guy. I do try to keep up with them and hope they do well but not crushed when they don't. If I'm not doing something else and they're on TV I'll watch some of it but again just not a big basketball fan. I do watch when tournament time starts and my son's games but otherwise could care less. I played one season when I was 10 or 12. Was MVP but just wasn't my thing.

I love college basketball. As a sport, it's much more popular in the Midwest. That's was about the only thing to do in the dead of winter up north when I was growing up. Loved baseball as well, but basketball was always my favorite sport to play.

I also like how wide open college basketball is for a team out of no where to have a chance. I think it's safe to say a college need at least two top 10 classes to win a football championship. College basketball is much more competitive. I think the concentration of power in football will ultimately hurt the sport.

Still prefer watching college or NFL football over basketball, but I appreciate the talent and athleticism of basketball. Best athletes in the world.

I agree.
Best part about basketball is the upsets. ANYONE can beat ANYONE any day. All it it takes is for a team to get hot. K state knocked off #1 Oklahoma today!!

Dang vandy just gave another one away. Ole miss has been a thorn in the side of vandy for years. The rebels have a good coach in Andy Kennedy.

I can't understand why stallings continues to run a man defense when he doesn't have the quickness up front to play it. They end up in foul trouble every time they stick with it. :bash: :bash:

I've always hated basketball with a passion. Couldn't stand it. I began watching some when Pearl was hired. I grew to love it. I didn't miss a game when he was coaching from that point on. Hated so bad when he was fired. If the opportunity was to arise I'll tell him that he taught me to enjoy the game of basketball. I still love the VOLS basketball team. I keep up with them and check scores. I watch when I can but I don't clear my schedule to watch a game like I used to. Caught the 2nd half tonight after I watched Major League Fishing on Center Hill Lake that I had DVR'D. I watched the whole game when we played Florida & Kentucky. Try to always watch those if I'm able.
