Federal has came out this year with the 3rd degree ammo for the 20 gauge and the makers of heavy shot has too with triplebeard, now if Winchester will follow suit and make the longbeards for the 20 gauge!!!

the 3rd degree are total crap and a waste of money IMO. the triple beard is appealing as a back up or alternative to the HW7s but man I'm not sure how i feel about a load with a lot of lead 7s in it. seems it may be questionable at 40 or beyond for sure.

I want shoot past 40 yards no matter what, to many things can go wrong shooting past 40. That's just my opinion, I've always been that way about shooting past 40. I just want Winchester to make longbeards for the 20, and do it quick, lol

past 40 is a looooooooong way for any 20 gauge. but I do want to have the chance. Will check out the hevi's, but the federal heviweight are the first choice now

40 yds is really just an arbitrary number. I doubt a lead 1-1/4 oz load can be a 40 yd load. My personal standard is at least 100 in a 10" circle AND at least 1.25" penetration each pellet. The above pattern is more than good way past 40 if those pellets carry adequate penetration AND the shooter can put them where he's aiming. It's good to have plenty of range estimation error cushion to insure a humane and ethical kill every time.

That is a great pattern. I started reloading TSS last season and haven't looked back!!

I thought 1300 fps was 1300 fps no matter if it was 1 1/4 20ga or 17/8 12 ga
