The deer I killed last night had this wound on his hindquarters. It was very fresh. I saw a pit bull and another dog running around the area where I killed the deer the day before I killed him. There is a coyote issue on this farm as well. I also thought maybe it was someone's bad shot on him. Any thoughts? I had very distinct entry and exit wounds that were nowhere near this.

Been shot by someone else... I doubt a canine bite would leave that round of a wound.

Looks like that could be a bite from a dog that was chasing it, but couldn't hang on.
Don't know, coyotes usually go for the rump when they catch a deer.
I have seen folks post pictures of deer they think have been shot, I suspect deer fights cause quit a few shots, killed a good 1 a few years ago, had a wound from the bottom of his neck all the way out the top between his shoulder blades, probably 10-12" and he was lucky it slid around the meat instead of just under the skin, love to seen what deer poked him, no way a shot done that wound and had some infection oozing from it.
