Crossbow

I haven't. If I did, I would have to be setting in a blind. Thing is to big to carry around the woods.

Hunt just about everything

My daughter shot her first longbeard last year with a crossbow. We were hunting out of a blind, along a field edge and she thumped him at 9 yards. I hunted Fort Campbell on Monday with a crossbow, and enjoyed it; I have an exemption. Only drawback is undergrowth, hard to find a clear shooting lane when your mobile.

That's hardly the only drawback, but it's certainly one of the drawbacks.

What drawbacks, or pointers can you provide as we hunt turkeys with a crossbow? I'd like to read the feedback, as I may be missing something that could help on a future hunt.

I cant tell the number of times I've had to hustle from point A to point B to set up quickly on a bird or had to crawl/sneak thruogh thick cover, or just had to cover 4-5 miles to find a bird. I wouldnt do that with a crossbow if I was getting paid. You also have an increased risk of wounding/loosing a bird. Shooting one in the head/neck with 300-500 pellets is higher percentage than shooting at the small vitals with a single arrow.

Curious why anybody would want to hunt them with a crossbow?

I'm hunting a bow only area, and the diameter of the area isn't that large. The crossbow I have, Scorpyd Ventilator 125, is pretty compact and shoots lights out with a 2" cut broad head. I feel comfortable hunting with it and have a lot of confidence in my shooting ability.

Good answer :D !

Good luck with it.

My crossbow is plenty capable of killing one its an excalibur 330 matrix shooting rage broadheads I was just looking for pointers as far as to why it's because I like a challenge

Bow only area is an excelent reason to shoot a crossbow. I'm not trying to knock anybody's weapon, i just wouldnt want drag one around. And I know they're capable, just a lower percentage than an arrow.

If you like a challenge then take up underwater welding. I like shooting them in the face to much to try other options hahahahahahah
