. . . . suggestions?
Learn from your mistake.
Don't buy another cuddeback.
Serious.

Been there, done that. Overpriced junk.

If you can send it in for repair or replacement without any costs beyond your shipping, I'd do that. Otherwise, I'd sell it on ebay and use whatever you get for it as seed money for a different cam.

Friends don't let friends buy cuddebacks. :)

I have wondered why their cameras cost so much. They don't seem to have any better features than comparable factory trail cams, yet they cost about $100 more. I figured that was because they are really high quality or something.

It's because they seem to put more of their revenue into marketing schemes, advertising, and patting themselves on their own backs. IMO, they're mainly "popular" among users who've not used many other makes at a comparable price.

Cuddeback's old film cams (1990's) and first generation digitals (early 2000's) were relatively good cams, although there wasn't a whole lot of choice in their price range. Instead of maintaining their previously good reputation among knowledgeable users, they seemed to just use that reputation to justify high prices on their new models, then putting too much revenue into advertising and too little into research and development.

i'm just glad it's a friends camera and not mine..
Glad to hear that (for you). :)

went out this evenin and checked it again.. nothing.

so... I took out the batteries and let it "reset" itself. and took out the SD card. put the batteries back in, reset the timestamp, and reinserted a SD card (a 2 gb). Walked around for a few minutes while it took photos. immediately tool out the SD card and viewed the pics of my rear end on a viewer.

so I guess resetting it worked, hopefully. I did notice the green light at the bottom right was flashing crazy like before I reset it. maybe it was stuck or froze up.

Does it have internal memory? I have slid in a SD card that had the "lock" setting on it flipped the wrong way, which caused the cam to write to the - small - internal memory instead of the SD card. Very frustrating until I figured out I had bumped the lock when installing the card. Just something to be mindful of.

i think it does because the 2gb card i put in had some pictures i had never seen before when i took it back out.. and they were dated during a time period where that card was sitting in my living room.
