As a bowhunter, are you

A)looking for a large cutting diameter to inflict the most damage possible with the possibility of not getting maximum penetration?

B) A smaller cutting diameter to increase penetration with the objective to get a pass through and two holes in the animal and possibly a better blood trail?

Either works for me. If you make a good shot, deer dies either way. With that being said, all but one deer I've shot with a rage have been pass throughs, and the one that wasn't still resulted in two holes in the deer, with a blood trail anyone could follow EASILY.

I prefer both . I want a sharp , accurate broadhead that penetrates well and cuts a wide hole . Pass trough shots are largely dependent on the amount of bone the broadhead strikes , the shot angle , KE of the setup , and design of the broadhead .
No two shots are ever the same , but the bottom line is to strive to take out both lungs while minimizing contact with bone to achieve a pass trough shot with any broadhead .
