IF CWD is as common as it is, why is there not more footage of deer with end stage CWD in the wild on camera? youtube does not have much when I searched this morning. Thanks
This is probably the #1 reason. Considering most CWD infected deer don't die to maturity, and CWD infects bucks at a much higher rate than does, there just aren't that many infected mature bucks in any given population to see it occur frequently. As I've said many times, in well-managed deer populations, mature bucks only make up around 10-15% of the adult male population....there are probably only a certain percentage that contract CWD then again only a certain percentage that live long enough to reach the end stages.
