So today I received an email from TWRA stating that my deer taken on 11/21/2021 was negative for CWD. Sounds good, BUT, I had no idea the deer was even tested? I'm assuming this took place at a processor because that's the only one I took to a processor. Anyone else had this occur? Seems like there would be an initial notification so you knew the testing had taken place?

They don't usually notify you to let you know it is being tested. Just when the results come in. Reason is usually, you ask to have it tested, or are asked if you want it tested.

I did not even get an email for my deer to let me know they got results back. If I had not checked periodically I would not have known my results were back. Surprised you got an email.

Same thing happened to me. I got a text and assumed it was for someone else. Then got an email same afternoon. Checked the email and had same confirmation number. Killed mine on 11/12 and dropped it off late that night. All I can figure is maybe they came to slaughter house that weekend and took a sample. I never had any idea. Got my results over 2 months later.

I like the idea that random sampling is being done outside of Unit CWD. To my knowledge, this has been done for years in a lot of counties, to some degree. Hopefully they are targeting older animals (3.5+) that have been on the landscape longer, thus more likely to have been exposed to and contracted CWD, if it is present in the area.

Been 4-6 years ago I seen a game warden pulling samples at Adams in Claxton, might have been the same year they cked a doe for me in Harragot , never heard back from them so reckon it was ok
