Dad's bad luck...

First week if the season I called my dad in a nice gobbler and he missed it clean at 30 yards. His morning called in two hot gobbling birds and he could shoot bc he didn't cut a sapling out his way when he sat down. Ugh! Trying to get the old man to tag a bird but I declare it has been rough. He has only killed one bird and that was a jake and my first bird to ever call in about 15 years ago. Maybe I can get him of in close next week. I may have to blind fold it and tie it to a stake though lol!!!

I had a season like that with my dad a few years ago. Had one right off the roost at 25 yds, but even though it was strutting, etc., dad couldn't make out its beard so he didn't shoot. Had one or two misses also (I think I tried to erase the details from my memory). It will definitely wear on you.

I resorted to begging a middle TN friend for an opportunity the last weekend and he came through. That walk out of the woods was one of relief !

Hope he can get one. I'm in the same boat with my 11-year old son. He killed one when he was 8 and nothing since. Granted he doesnt go a lot due to baseball but hope to change that in the morning. Good luck to you!!!
