I've got a pair of hawks that hang out at my house. I've suspected they are a big part of the decline in turkey numbers, especially picking off poults. I found this today.

I talked to my uncle yesterday and was telling me he was sitting on his porch one day this week and seen a couple of hawks dive down and fly up in a tree. He said then here came a hen running up the hill raising cane and flew up in the tree with the hawks. I'm sure the hawks had got a poult or two.

30 years ago if some said they killed a hawk I would have turned them in. Nowadays, if someone say that, they get an 'attaboy' from me. Federal protection for 60 years has resulted in WAY too many hawks.

Wonder if they taste like chicken?

Taste kinda like a combination of spotted owl and baby seal.
