It just hit me now....I have the beards and both feet from my bird, but I threw the tail fan away with the rest of the carcass. There goes my fan mount...I guess ill just add it to the beard board. That kind of sucks

Cat, i killed my first turkey last year. Checked it in online and left. I got up the next morning to go to another place and i had no gun. Went back to where i killed my first and there it was, standing right by the tree. Now, that is a dum dum.

Unless the fan was something unique, you could use the fan off of your next bird if you want to continue with original plan.
I would do that but to me it's gotta be off the same bird. Wouldn't have much meaning if it was any other fan.

lol I have left a thing or two maybe, but not the gun (yet). I did drive 50 minutes to hunt about 4 years ago and realized I left the gun at home.

My kid has a fan mount it's pretty cool, but my grandpa passed two weeks ago and my kid had killed a turkey that mourning.Me and him went to the hospital and i called the wife and told her to get the turkey in the back yard and lay it in the cooler.Well tryin to be nice she cleaned the turkey but threw away fan, beard, etc. He was upset too but think it was more of a sentimental thing he just didn't know how to react.

I left my SBE laying in the gravel road by where we parked the truck. When I realized it I went back to get it and it was gone. Fortunately, the nice man driving the road grader saw it just before he graded it into the road. It took some calling but I got it back. I've also left the same gun leaning against a fence post beside the road snd didnt realize it until the next morning.

So throwing away a fan wouldt even register on my dum dum list.

One of my first hunts alone while not turkey, during muzzeloader i killed a deer. Left my gun propped on the tire of my ranger. It was muddy and after some rocking back and forth i finally got out with 4 wheel drive. After checking in the deer and getting home i realized i didn't have my gun. Lots more rain had come down and i barely made it to where i had parked when i killed my doe. I found my gun buried in the mud with my tire tracks over the top of it. After a long cleaning the gun still shot dead on. I never felt so dumb. But now that im older i figure it was a lesson well earned.
