I have never killed a gobbler before, never really cared to even. I've killed 2 jakes in my life but that is it. Figured i'd give it a shot this year and don't have a darn clue as to what i'm doing but i'm learning as i go. We ambushed 2 gobblers Fri evening that we seen from the road. The spot my buddy hunts you can see most of it from the road and then park and slip through the woods. We got on them and i made about a 60-65 yard shot on one. I shouldn't have but whatever it is what it is. I knocked it down and feathers flew and then he flew lol. In the mean time i short shucked my gun and that caused me to not get a follow up shot on him.

Fast forward to the next morning. Went to load my gun and realized the spring is broke in the tube (so i think). So that morning i had to just shoot it like a single shot. It didn't matter i never seen a male bird anyways. Went home swapped guns and headed back to my property. Never seen or heard a bird and called it quits at 3.

Decided to try this evening after we got home from church and stuff. Went to 1 spot and stayed an hour or so then decided to try my aunts. Immediately had one gobbling and i swear i'm not exaggerating when i say he gobbled 100+ times. He was fired up and cutting me off ever so often. But there was a big ditch and some pushed up trees from farmers that i got he didn't want to cross. Finally closer to dark i eased on down to try to get on him but couldn't find a spot to cross without making a lot of noise and just popping up in the field.

Oh well it was fun and got my heart thumping every gobble. Especially when you could tell he was facing me when he'd let loose. I'll keep after them and hopefully get one.
