Decoy

LOL, been there done that :) One of my best hunts was in a wide open field set up in a sinkhole in the middle of the field before the flocks broke up. Had 7 decoys all around me, called the whole flock of birds out of the treetops from the mountain above just like duck calling... ended up with 6 gobblers, 4 jakes, and 15-20 hens in range. Watched the gobblers fight like heck, destroy the male decoys, then proceeded to double up with a friend on the biggest 2 toms after 10 minutes of the most incredible show I've ever watched. Was hilarious watching one of the hens literally carry on a 60 second conversation with one of the hen decoys 5 yards from us.

To be as slick as they are and hard to kill sometimes it always amazes me how dumb they can be around dekes talking, fighting, and even trying to breed.

turkeys are very visual...they see anything slightly resembling a hunter, they're gone. They see anything slightly resembling a turkey, they want to fight with it or bang it. They see a fence then it might as well be trumps wall.

LOL, so true. one of my hens got out a couple days ago and she just kept trying to push back through the 2"x4" welded wire until I picked her up (then she mauled me :( )
