All, was just curious what everyone seen as far as deer activity this past weekend on the Juvenile Hunt. For us, we did not see a deer. The woods are virtually void of any activity. The woods were strangely silent not even any squirel activity. With virtually no mast crop this year where we are at and zero sucess with food plots (Planted 4 times) I am afraid it is going to be long deer season and I am afraid the deer are going to have a tough winter. On a side note, seen plenty of turkeys and armadillo's. They were out everwhere looking for a meal.

BTW, this was in Hickman County and we also never heard a shot both days of hunting.

Seeing basically the same in Humphreys. Very little deer activity in the woods. Does, fawns and yearling bucks in the food plots (what there is of them) almost every day. No older bucks.

Very slow for us in Wayne. Two deer seen Saturday morning with 5 hunters, 5:00 PM before one seen that afternoon on plots

Daughter and I seen 5 doe on Saturday. All in same food plot throughout the day. She end up killing a doe that evening. I heard of 3 doe killed on juvenile. No bucks seen for us. very few and small bucks on my cameras. We have a sh!t acorn crop this year and the little to no rain has put a hurting on the food plots. I believe it will be a tough year on our lease as well. Wayne county.

I hunt in Humphreys county. There must not be any acorns at all in the county. Didn't find any after walking an hour walking on our farm. I knew we wouldn't have any after driving in and see the amount of deer and turkeys in the fields. Saw about 60-70 deer and 50 turkeys in one field. This field usually has deer but not that many. It must have pulled everything in from all the acornless woods around it. Gonna be a tough year on our farm because we have to have acorns to pull deer in. 80% mature timber and some clear cut.

No juveniles on ours anymore as they all aged out so haven't been there in about a month. Hoping our plots have come up somewhat but kinda concerned they haven't. Will find out Friday afternoon. We're in Hickman county too.
good luck with the droughts we have had my plots are essentially a bust. was looking forward to having them with the little to no acorns, but I don't think it is in the cards.

Hunted 3 times before juvey - had good deer traffic during all 3, even harvested a doe on one occasion.

Saturday of Juvey saw nothing but heard a doe bleat early and then had a buck grunt late.
We grunted back and forth two more times as he circled wide around to wind us. Never saw him. Can't mistake the sound, though, nor his "circumnavigation" for winding us.
Unfortunately, my son didn't appreciate the hearing of the hunt, as kids prefer to see the critters.
Everyone else's experiences may differ, but for me, having a grunting buck so close and so responsive is like having a bird in hand over two in the bush.
Extremely rare for me.
And doe bleating has been even rarer for me.

We've had plenty of acorns.
I don't know how the rain has compared in Hickman / Humphreys Counties, but we've had plenty in Wilson this summer.
We're hunting thick woods where cedar forest hit big hard wood, if that matters.

Lots of movement on the juvi here in SE TN. One big buck cruising, at least one, but probably two separate small bucks chasing does. Lots of does.

Oh yeah, we only hunted Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon

SEVERE drought. I believe it has rained just 5 times since early June at my place. Normal rainfall for the area June-October is around 20 inches. We have received about 4 inches over that time span.

Just does, fawns and yearling bucks. Not hardly any bucks 2.5 or older.

Hickman has been in a severe drought. Surprisingly, this last .31" we just got has really shot up our plots. Looks to be at least a week of warm and sunny weather. Hoping they mojo, because we have ZERO acorns. Typically when we have zero acorns, we have zero deer. However, we went from 9 acres of food plots to near 30 acres, so we'll see what happens.

I hunter LBL Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday morning. Never heard a shot and did not see a deer while hunting.

I've had trouble finding much sign while scouting. We've gone out 4x already, and only found about 10 scrapes, and about 25 rubs.
That's all we found, covering about 10 miles on foot.

Only hunted Saturday morning. Good hunt. Acorns and clover with winter wheat drilled. All head down eating til bucks saw does then they were interested in just checking but not crazy. Trail cameras scrapes are getting hit daily hot and heavy.

Took all three of my youngans. and had buddies sitting with two of them. All together we seen 9 deer and 2 got shots and missed. We're in east tn and we got plenty of acorns this year almost to many. Hate y'all didn't see many. We used to hunt Hickman co on the willamete property and hunted saw briar thickets when they didn't have acorns this time of year I think they ate them lil berries.
