so the law is no hunting within 250 yard radius of deer bait. What is the law if you were to feed deer with an an automatic feeder prior to season but stop once season starts; is it legal to hunt as long as there is no bait on the ground or in the feeder?

also is a food plot considered "bait" ?

Any bait, including as much as a single or partial kernel of corn, must have been completely removed from the site at least 10 days prior to any hunting near that site.

No.

Basically, if you throw it (or it comes in a bag), it's "bait".
If you grow it, it's not.

Salt & minerals (containing no food sources, such as corn kernels) are NOT considered bait,
even though often purchased in a bag and it doesn't grow.

Above is for TN "statewide" only ---- what's "legal" on private property "statewide" is often not on particular WMAs.
And, baiting laws & definitions vary greatly from one state to another, as well as in regard to the game being hunted.

I believe all bait has to be gone 10 days prior to hunting. When I say all bait I mean down to the last kernel of corn. One kernel and something in the neighborhood of the surrounding 250 acres (not exactly sure) will be closed to hunting for 10 days.
