Just wondered having the water shortage in some areas, deer staying around these type areas, is there a chance that we could see the CWD breakout on deer again like we had a few years back?

Or am I way off base here?

EHD, and yes certainly possible but we are still a year or 2 outside of its normal return frequency. Definitely a chance though. Im no deer doctor but have been seeing much discussion on this topic LOL

Yes, a long summer drought, especially in later summer, can increase the chance of a Hemorrhagic Disease outbreak. Normally these outbreak occur on a 6-7 year cycle, and it has only been 5 years since the last one, but that may be close enough.

Watch for HD sick/dead deer starting in late July and early August.

Although it has not been confirmed yet, I did talk to a landowner in southern IL that found a sick and dying deer in a creek just a few days ago. Symptoms sounded very much like HD.
