Was looking at my other thread and saw the guys say something about record birds! My bird weighed right at 29 lbs and change!!!!
I am checking my scales and they are dead on with my 25 lb steel plate down stairs!

I figured these things got bigger then 30 lbs?

I may have screwed up!!

The guy that has been hunting the land said there was what appeared to be a 30 lb bird that stayed on that hill that they had tried to kill last year!! This bird had fat everywhere around the breast! Heavy fat! He made my other 2 year old bird look like a jake!

I would, not calling BS by any means, because I don't have the basis to do so. However, any bird over 24 lbs is going to raise eyebrows as it is just not common at all. The heaviest bird I have seen personally out of 200 or so over the years weighed 23.5 lbs.

Not saying you are calling BS. I am new to this turkey thing. I do think I may have chopped up an extra heavy bird. I just thought he was fat. His beard was only 9 inches and his spurs were only an inch but they were rounded off. Bird just looked old. Was much bigger than the 2 year old I shot. The fat content in this bird was pretty amazing. Well I will never know because I chopped him up. I will be much more careful in the future. I can understand anyone being skeptical now that I know the average weights of these birds.

I woukd not be skeptical of this weight. I killed a bird last year 9.75 in beard 7/8s spurs and it weighed in at 24.5 lbs. It was wieghed in at Dickson Sportsman Store 3hrs after I shot him. Yes I did mount him after they told me that this was a very heavy bird. A full strut mount on a 24lb bird takes up half of the room. But he sure looks good.
