The ugly bird contest LOL.
Sorry for the not so pretty pic, but I shot this old boy when he was on a steep bank right above a spring. At the shot he rolled down into the water and flopped around until he was good and wet and muddy.
He was the only bird I saw all day and he came in without making a sound.
Not sure about the weight but he was heavy, 10" beard 1 1/8" spurs.
On a side note found a Lions mane AKA Bearded tooth mushroom on the way out of the woods. It should go well with a smoked turkey breast!

To tell ya the truth, those are not my favorite "fungus" lol. I much prefer Chanterelles, Oyster, or Morrells.
The last Lions mane I found I rolled them in flour, salt and pepper then fried. They were ok but not great. I may just cut this one up and sauté in butter.
