I shot a buck this past weekend and was thinking of doing a DIY euro mount. I'm in the CWD zone and want to get it tested. I self process my deer. Do y'all know of a way to submit a sample to get tested but keep the head?

cut out the retropharyngeal nodes from the back of the neck where it meets the head and submit them. There may be a youtube video on how to do it, it's not hard once you know what they look like and where they are located. If the head hasn't been frozen and is more than 2-3 days old, the likelihood they will be able to detect CWD prions goes WAY down. The fresher, the better.

Nor argument here, but why would it be difficult after freezing or a few days? I thought those things couldn't be destroyed?

I followed megas advice. Cut out the nodes and put them in a sandwich bag with the info card inside of a second sandwich bag holding the card and the bag the nodes were in. Dropped them off at a freezer drop. My results are still pending.

I ended up calling a the Region 1 office and spoke with the CWD coordinator. He gave me a local TWRA tech's phone number. We spoke and I'm going to bring the head by his house for him to pull it.

The office acted as if no has been in this situation before.
