Wifey just aint into wild meat, says squirrel taste gamey, I cant ever remember a gamey one, so Im looking for a good way to marinade to get a tastier more tender squirrel supper (Im thinking soak in butter milk, floured and fried with a 5 gal bucket of gravy).

What do y'all use ??

Read up on doing a brine, lots of work but may try it, also may need to get a presure cooker, something to learn.

Thanx guys.

Ive always just soaked them overnight in the fridge in salt water,
It helps remove any remaining blood which will cause the meat to taste more gamey.

The younger ones eat the best anyway, but an old ones not bad if properly smothered in dumplings and fresh ground black pepper.

Come on cool weather I'm getting hungry !

I soak in salt water and then par boil until tender but not falling off the bone, batter and fry.
Use the stock from boiling to make gravy with......will be the best gravy you have ever had!!
Biscuits, mash taters or fried taters with a cold glass of tea and you are set!
