• Help Support TNDeer:

do you aim low

If they are relaxed no, but if they are the least bit nervous, then yes. I will also let the deer dictake where my aim point will be

Its kinda hard to say for me, I guess it would depend on how close they are. I try to shoot where I want the arrow to come out on the offside. Deer closer in a treestand i put the pin just a little higher. But yea low is better, if they do jump the string still is a good chance you'll get it through the living courters

Depends on what you call low. 99 percent of the time I aim at the heart. That way, if there is no drop then I hit heart. But if I have a close shot at say a spooky AEDC deer, I may even aim lower than the heart.

I rarely hit a deer EXACTLY where I aim. MOST of the time, the deer drops at least a little. In other words, I hit few "X's"
on live deer. But I do hit LOTS of bullseyes.

102 that is so true, i can hit the spot everytime at 40 yrds, but in the woods.... well I am just not going to say

I agree, a live deer moves a lot more than a target! For me, the longer the shot, the lower I aim, more reaction time. Agree on the nervous deer / low shot also.

kinda reminds me of a time, gosh seems like i ranged this deer a thousand times, and just a couple steps the wrong way and i sent an arrow right underneath. I really do think i am terrible at distances. I really do rely on that range finder, but a few steps out is terrible for aiming low. But, i will stand by aiming at the heart, after that incident guessing a few yards long shouldn't hurt. But, there again I'll probably miss again sometime, nobody is perfect, for sure not me

I have only missed one deer in 30 years by aiming low and shooting low , but I have shot over a few by aiming at the 10 ring (target reference) . :)
