Would you shoot these two goofy horned bucks? I don't know how old they are but I'm leaning toward as old as they will get if they walk in front of me. This year I've gotten pictures of 4 different messed up bucks, these 2 show up daily/nightly. First is a deer that comes into my clover plot every night and I've gotten pictures of him back on a ridge trail. I really wanted to get him with my bow. Left side looks normal with 4 on that side. The right side is a hot mess, looks like a claw to me and you can't tell it here but its brow tine on the right side is at least 10" (In the second picture you can see the brow tine, it's right above his ear.) Disregard the dates and times on the pictures.

This deer is just depressing. Right side looks good enough, but yea the left side is just one long spike.

On your property do you shoot them or let them walk?

The top one looks 3.5 to my untrained eye, so I would probably shoot him. The bottom one looks 2.5, and so I wouldn't shoot him. If it were me, the decision would have little to do with the "messed up" antlers.

I probably would just because of the character of the racks. good luck if you decide to pull the trigger on them

I'd judge both of them to be 3.5 years old based on their chest & shoulder bulk. To me, any 3.5 year old buck is a shooter regardless of antlers. If they have scrawny antlers consider yourself lucky because of the $ savings from having no Taxidermy bill to pay. :)

Top is 3.5 the bottom is 2.5...question is do YOU shoot? What I look for in a shooter might be completely different than what you are looking for in a buck. Don't let me standards hold you back from killing a buck that you'd be happy with. Do what's right in your eyes!

I'd definitely not shoot the bottom one but if it gets your blood pumping and you know you'd be happy with him then shoot a hole thru the lungs.

Agree, top buck is 3.5, bottom is 2.5

Personally, I wouldn't shoot either. There is some benefit to having older deer in your herd, and I don't shoot 'culls' until they are 4.5 myself.
