Dobbs Wins 1st Team QB

Them florida HB's were monsters smash mouth sec foot ball in the win over UGA run and run and run some more.
dobbs has been balling as well guy just had his first start of the year and played well on the road. Gotta wonder what UT record would be if he wouls have started since week 1? But dont blame UT for trying to red shirt him the way Worley was playing going into the florida game

Wow!!! Awesome decision by the coaching staff!!
Who wudda thunk?

Obviously didn't read the story.

He never does. Usually just spouts off at the mouf.

Yeah,he is a great spouter :D
Yeah didn't read it till now. Was just runnin the old mouf.

Only thing I cant figure out for TN staff is if you know the OLINE is getting whipped with a drop back passer then you need to try to run with a running QB. Worley was getting sacked game one. But other than that Dobbs won that job in the Bama game reguardless if Worley was 100% or not. Takes heat off of the Oline by playing him.

No doubt the o line left a lot to he desired but Worley has a bad tendency to hold on to the ball too long and his pocket presence isnt that great either. Against defenses in the SEC you got about 2 seconds tops to either throw the ball or take off running and thats with just about any o line.

Worley is a tough dude and a leader. I really hate to see him go out like this.

They was gonna red shirt Dobbs that's why he didn't start sooner! Plus everyone was happy with Worleys play up until the Florida game. If you remember everyone was talking about how good he was playing after the UGA game he did look good besides the sacks lol
He did get killed a lot cause he could not use his legs I think they was hoping the a o-line would come together and he would take less hits and pull out a win or so while being able to keep Dobbs red shirt just never happened.Dobbs got a good shot to get is to 6 wins and a bowl.Let's just hope he at least gets us there since we had to burn his red shirt

I guess you can say the season about floridas staff didn't they start a senior QB? That didn't play well at all? Only to get benched later on in the season by a freshmen?

I agree, BUTword is that Dobbs had not shown in practice that he could even approach what he's doing in the games. I dunno since I'm not at practice, but that's what I've heard from more than one source.

True to a certain point... Our Oline would hold up for him bt Jeff just wouldn't make the right read or mis his throws. Treon is raw, but I agree Muschamp waited to long. My thing with Worley is IMO his line cant hold up long enough for him to get the ball out, Dobbs doesn't need that long before he can tuck and run. Nowadays u better be able to scramble at will.... IMO as well I think Dobbs wasn't trying to perform better than Petterman since he was thinking of redshirting him. But the staff shoulda saw they needed someone to scramble. WHAT IF Worley didn't get hurt??? Would they still played Worley the whole time. Its Worth burning his shirt to win games imo. But that's just me... would have interesting game if both coaches had the QBs playing the entire game against each other.

Im not at practice or associated with the team other than being a fan but here is my theory. Butch saw a senior leader in Justin Worley that apparently showed enough in practice that he could get it done so he got the start. Ive seen where people have said that Josh Dobbs was listed 3rd string and that was because he lacked accuracy in practice. Well, if Butch Jones had already decided he was going to RS Dobbs, why would he be listed any higher than third string? I think they knew all along the talent JD had but was intent on RS him, saving him for an extra year and try to improve upon his passing game.

Heres why I say they knew all along. Janzek has said that they had been using JD in practice to get the defense ready for mobile QB. Very first games of the season were mobile QB teams. He said that JD was tearing the TN defense
up in practice with his mobility, not necessarilly his throwing. So they have seen since the first of the year that he was extremely mobile. Maybe his accuracy was off a little. Just more reason to RS and work on his throwing and have the extra year. They were trying to build the ideal QB they wanted by RS Dobbs. Worley got injured and it was apparent Peterman wasnt the guy so they went with Dobbs. JMO

Your right G8rntn it is worth burning his red shirt to win games! And it would be fun to go back and watch dobbs and floridas freshmen face of against each other the entire game lol, but question is it worth burning his red shirt if he can't win atleast 2 outta 3 up coming games! I dont think so

I'd say this is exactly what went down, and why.
