we have no birds this year. no sign, no gobbles, nothing. but I'm not too disappointed as that was my intention when I started hunting them. kill them all or run them off.

Funny you say that, I feel the same for deer! If there weren't so many stupid deer the turkeys would have more acorns, grain, clover, and whatever else to eat!
I would swap all of the deer I have seen/killed hunted in my life for just one hen to raise a brood on my land in Giles county.
