This bird makes the second double beard on the year and also double digits at #10 on the season. He gobbled good on the limb but hit the ground going the other way. I gave him a bit and heard him way off and thought I knew where he was going so I jumped up and headed that way. About halfway there I figured I better check him and when I did a hen was just over the crest of the hill and cut me off cutting. She cutt hard for a minute or so and was easing my way and I was hoping he was with her. Well she came in tight and of course he wasn't with her. She kept calling when i would so I was liking her being there. She eased off to my right and out of sight and he gobbles to my hard left at 200 yards. I spin on the tree and give him a short series of yelps. 30 seconds later I see him picking his way through the woods. I let him get to 40 and stopped him with some tss. I didn't weigh him but he was very light, if he broke 15# I would have been surprised. It's been an awesome year but it ain't over yet. Another week in Alabama and a couple more in TN after that.
