10/23-10/25 Antlerless or Spike (Excluding Ensley)

Somebody tell me about this hunt.

Give me some insight and details?

Who should I call or get a map of the area?

I got drawn for that hunt last year. They sent me a map and info in the mail so I assume they will do the same for you this year. Lots of sign but I didn't see many deer. I think all the presure and the hunt the week before had them mostly moving at night but they are there.
 
Thanks for the info. Could you tell me which part you hunted. Did they pick it out for you or was there opportunity for you to scout?

its south of the island a few miles, they are not connected. someone had a map with both units posted on here a while back, do a search and you may find it.
 
You have the day before to scout but be warned that everyone and will be riding 4 wheelers everywhere on the dirt roads. They are allowed there. I just considered it a chance to see it so if I ever do get drawn for the either sex hunt one year I'll have an idea where to go.
 
You'll be sick by the end of it, you should get plenty of chances at does but if your like me, you'll have a big one walk right under your stand, killed me, only the buck hunt from now on for me
 
Last year killing a doe or spike would have been hard for me. Mostly i saw racked bucks. If you hunt an area and dont see anything move. I hunted the first morning and didnt see any thing. My partner was 120 yards away and he saw 17 bucks the same morning.
 
Come on guys! Help me out!

I need to go down and scout the area myself? Where is a good area? Near the river? North, South or all over?

Just give me a heads up on where to start scouting. I have looked at a map and see some funnels, but other than that how will I know that every guy drawn doesn't pick the same funnel.

when you drive in and get to the parking area in the middle of it, I hunted the far left corner, saw tons of deer and had chances at does but I was just there looking. At the check in spot just after you pull in, you can park right there and go in the the left, it is some persimmon trees in there, great spot for a quick kill
