drilling/tapping receiver of 870

There is a place..... I can't think of the name off hand..... If you ever make it down toward Winchester, try Hero Gear. I asked last fall about having mine done...... said it would be about $100 ...... they said you pay for the best..... well I just decided to use what I had for the time being..... so this year I'm getting an 11-87 super mag already drilled & tapped to put my scope on.....I'll just use the 870sm for an in the woods get em in close gun......

When I looked into having my 870 drilled and tapped several years ago I was advised by a couple of very gun knowledgeable folks not to do it. According to them, the alloy used in those receivers just will not let the mounted bases hold up to the heavy shotgun recoil for any length of time before the screws strip out. Both advised me to try the B-Square mount. I've used them on the 870 and now have one for my 11-87 and haven't had any issues with them.

Remington now has drilled and tapped 870`s for optics. There is no problem to drill and tap a Remington 870. Mine has weathered on for 3 yrs now no problem.
