Or you can serve a spot on the cable and just tie the cord to the cable with the same knot as a d-loop. The serverd spot keeps the rope from going up the cable. This way you can change rope or rests without pressing the bow or having to go to the shop to have them do it.
 
I served my cable and tied mine on. Never had an issue.

I know a few guys who use the football style clamp and it works for them. So I guess it's a matter of pref.
