sunday afternoon I found a very fresh used dusting area. Same spot last year I watched a big ole hen dusting there. Actually found 3 total dusting sites on sunday and was wondering, do gobblers and hens all share the same areas or are toms more likely to use one spot and hens more likely to use another? Also do they usually dust during the hot mid day or can they usually be found dusting anytime?

Anytime thru out day....good place to sit and wait. Two things could happen hens come in to dust and bring big boy with them or he gets lonely and goes to dusting area in search of hens...either way win/win for you if you are there. I got a buddy who will set up on a dust bowl during the day if nothing happening and he has had lots of success with this strategy.

Cool I may have to try that if the morning is slow and nothing is gobbling. Two of the dust bowls I found were down the same cut lane not far from each other, and the 3rd one I saw was a few hundred yards away not in sight from the other 2. I think I'll sit in front of the two close ones just in case. I accidentally bumped a longbeard last year in that same cut.

Yep find a good dust bowl and sit on it long enough and you will probably kill a bird.

Yep! Last year my brother and I worked 3 gobblers 2 or 3 weekends in a row on the same ridge but they never would come to us. Finally my brother snuck over there one day and killed a bird. After inspection he found all kinds of dust pits. I think those gobblers were just hanging out up there waiting on the hens to come to them.
