I'll say it's frustrating not having binocs with me. First I saw a bird scross a field, wa to far to see if it was a gobbler, so I snuck a lot closer and ended up within 5 yds of it.... A hen, of course.
now I'm in another field not too far away and there's a bird dusting out there and it won't quit and it's too far to tell what it is. I could sneak along a creek bank for a closer look but I don't know how passable that section of the creek is, wearing boots that aren't meant to be submerged.
I guess I'll wait a little longer. Gotta get back to the ar in the next ouple hrs to hunt another spot and it's still a good hike back.
