Eagle Attacks Wild Turkey

I assume the 4-5 seconds of wing flapping right before the air strike is a survival ploy taken by the turkey to throw off his attacker.

It is a great video.

I'm not sold that it was a ploy. I think it basically lost control of its senses, and was trying to go in about 5 different directions at once. Much like a squirrel you come up on the middle of the road!

Possibly, however, it is crazy to me that he turns around 180 degrees, faces away from the eagle while continually flapping his wings and at the last moment fakes left and darts off to the right, kind of like a cross over dribble. Pretty crafty if it was a ploy and pretty darn lucky if it was a state of confusion. :D

You got that right :) !

I just don't think it had ever been in that position before and didn't know what to do. Kind of like the old Road Runner cartoons. His legs and wings were moving, but he wasn't going anywhere until he finally caught traction at the last second :D !

Actually had a great horned owl this last deer season fly in and pop a hen that had roosted about 40 yds from me right at dark. Never woulda believed it if i hadnt seen it with my own eyes.

Not sure about anyone else but to me turkeys running full speed are really funny to me for some reason.
I was just thinking the same thing, especially with his tail fan wide open flat while he was running. lol

turkeys can look stupidly funny but that one had some evasive maneuvering skills for sure...
