Had to post these. My buddy cancelled on me yesterday so I went alone. Birds we not hot and this guy only gobbled twice on the ground and never on the roost. One if my biggest birds. He had 1.25 inch spur in his right foot and the left was broke with a 10 beard. Thinking of getting him mounted.... What age would y'all guess this bird? His head was huge and it may be just me but it seemed his feathers came up higher in his head than other birds I have killed. By the way he scared the crap out if me when he gobbled at 30 yards just before I shot him lol! Sorry for the long post. If u guys have any suggestions on taxidermists and mount positions I would like to hear them. Thanks cole

I'd say he's 4 years old, but he could be older. After a certain point it's really hard to pinpoint age of a bird. Nice bird though, congrats

I would also say he is a 4 year old. 1-1/4" spurs curved and sharp in TN is hard to get,(see broke spur for example) so he is 4 in my book.

Outstanding bird for sure. As others have said, its really all a guess on age of a bird but the spur length and curve lead most to believe hes 4 or older. One thing know, he had his last birthday. :)
