Heading to my family's place next weekend. Was there in early April and had very little gobbling and it seemed they were locked up pretty good with hens. I'll be around Pleasantville and was curious as to what to expect in TN in early May. Here in AR it is a pretty good time to be after them as the hens are mostly starting to set and right now the gobbling is really picking up and the toms are losing hens from their harems. Just hoping it isn't too late in TN but anytime chasing them is worth it to me and it was the only time I could make it back.

My experience in early May middle Tennessee has been hit or miss and typically weather dependent. I'll take the cooler mornings over the hotter every day of the week. With that said, we typically kill our best spurs in May when compared to March and April. As you stated, any time in the turkey woods is better than work. Post up a trip report once you finish up and head home, good luck!

Some toms still have hens till end of season but also its good for calling a lonely one, maybe not the hottest action of season but still good hunting.

I actually have a Pleasantville address! My place has been basically the same for the last two weeks. Good roost gobbling and then quiet the rest of the day. I have a couple other farms I hunt here locally and they have been the same except a little more gobbling. This is my third year here, and it's been quit a bit different this year. I have yet to hear a gobble past 730. As far as May goes, the last two Mays have been good, although it's more spotty. I haven't found that weather has made a difference, but I think the cooler the better, and definitely after a rain is better. Good luck!

I hate late season when it's hot and foliage and bugs are out BUT I have found some hot toms in late season for sure.
