It was either last year or the year before...I disremeber...but we had a real late spring in SW TN. The woods were completely bare, it was cold, and the birds were still really bunched up and acting like breeding was the last thing on their minds early in the season. Seems like birds weren't totally fired up until the 2nd/3rd week of the season.

This year though...have you looked at the forecast for this week?!? My clover is greening up and already waaaay ahead and buds are ready to pop.

I haven't been out to listen yet but are we looking at an early spring and how do you think the birds will be acting in a couple of weeks?

Don't think it's an early spring but we seem to be having a normal spring. Last year was late and the year before was crazy early.

I'd say two years ago was early, last year late, and this one is starting normal following a period of brutally cold weather

I went and did some scouting today, the woods were greening up nicely. With the warm weather the next few days it should be really green next weekend. I didn't find any ticks though.

Last year was late, the year before was late, the year before that was really early. I remember because of when the morels came up

Every one seems to overlook the fact that it's March 16th, usually the cherries are in full bloom and the pears are showing color as well. The cherries aren't blooming and the pears look the same as they did a month ago.

I still feel it's fairly normal but a case could be made for a late spring as well.

exactly.....in normal year we will have sevaeral 50-60 degree days in Feb. we didn't have many or any this year.

Early spring ? Ice and snow storms in Feb and March here at the state line. I can usually wear shorts by the end of Feb. but not this yr.
