My wife has got me back on the trail to "real hunting".
Next season I will be chasing deer old school once again but this time with a LongBow.
Its a Vintage Bear Cub @ 45lbs or so made sometime between 1949 and 1953 best my reasearch can come up with.I have shot it a few times in the yard with my carbon arrows I use in my compound and its slinging them surprisingly fast.I may even chase hogs with it---maybe...if I can carry a wheel gun as well. Will be wanting to get some cedar arrows and start "becomeing one with the bow" .

here are a couple pics

I also have a #45 Bear Cub. Mine also has the leather wrap but has the later fiberglass lamination on the limbs. It's always been a good shooter.

thanks guys. This one has 46# stamped near the serial number.Im not sure its string is the right leangth.
Phil I have thought about ya with this for sure and your name has come up several times in discusion while we were talking trad shooting, bows and hunting.

Old Timer,,highly probable we have the same bow here.It has a glass lamination on the outside of the limbs.... I think.
I want to get wood arrows for it as I know I will need the weight that and I like em for this--only way to go.
Honestly I cant wait for the challenge. The deer seem to get easier and with my compound ---all they have to do is get inside 40 yards and its pretty much over.

Bobby-

The fiberglass laminations on mine are dark (OD green?) and the Bear logo is quite diferent. The bear is standing facing to the right and is surrounded by "BEAR ARCHERY COMPANY GRAYLING MICHIGAN" with three US pat. #'s and Canada 1953 listed below. That's on the face of the lower limb.

The upper limb has:

BEAR
GLASS-POWERED
CUB
