When I first moved to TN back in 2000 this was the first real place I got access to hunt. For years it was loaded with turkeys and me and some of my best friends had a ton of memorable hunts out there. Some of my best memories hunting came from here with a few close buds. Well 3 years ago the turkey were just gone for some reason. Didn't hear or see one out there till this year finally.

had heard 3 different birds out there a few weeks ago but haven't been back since till today. Decided to just go try it this morning with this being the last day I can hunt this season.

Had this guy fly down out of nowhere 60yds from me with 2 hens. They stayed at 60yds for 3 hours never moving more then 15ft lol. Finally he broke off enough to get to 40yds and there he died. I had a rush of memories hit me and really just sat there for 30mins after the shot thinking about all the fun times I have been out there with my buddies (that are now family men living in other states). Was without question my favorite bird of the year and just meant so much more to me then the others.

Congrats! Unreal you were able to stay still for 3 hours with birds at 60 yards and not get picked off!

Well I still can't feel either foot or half my butt lol.

Was fortunate that I had great cover on a field edge and the sun to my back which kept me in the shade the whole time but they were in the light the whole time.

Congrats on a great hunt and great pic. Please share with us how you get that turkey posed for the picture.

Congrats, and I know what you mean. I would love nothing else but to kill another bird on the farm I chutney teeth on, but I'm 100% certain that will never happen again. The south end of Lawrence is desolate for the most part. I killed one there in 2007 and I dont expect to ever get the opportunity again.

Great hunt and story. I had one of those last year. Killed a bird on the last day of the season, on a farm I had been hunting almost 40 years. It had been sold and was the last hunt I had there.
