I did for the first time today. The joker took to a tree when he got nervous. I waited and tried to coax him to pitch down to me, but he was having none of that, so I ended the game.

And after I did, his buddy flew directly above me, and I was able to get my phone out to video. Put it on full screen and turn the volume up. He flew when I went to my bird.

cool, congrats. sometimes you have to bush whack em.

I agree, but this wasn't one of them. He came in gobbling, along with his buddy. But, it was very thick in there, and he just didn't like something. He had started clucking/putting, so I did too and he calmed down. That's when he flew into the tree to get a better view. I waited at least 5 mins for him to pitch down with soft clucks. But, I was afraid that when he came down he would go to his buddy since he couldn't see a hen.

I have done something similar to what you did on more then one occasion. I had one pitch from one ridge to my ridge and land in a tree 20 yards away from me. He died.

A different time I had one coming in which was uphill of me, and he pitched down the mountain and onto a limb about 30 yards away. He died.

I also had a coyote spook a bird which was just out of sight up into a pine tree in AL, which put him in perfect view. He died.

Nothing wrong with it IMO, and as long as they come to a call I am going to end their life.

I would have shot and not even thought twice. You didn't sneak into his bedroom and shoot him off of the limb. You called him in. Congrats !

I thought I was going to have to shoot one out of a tree once. It would have been shot number 2.

The first shot was after a belly crawl stalk. I got to 52 yards and decided to attempt the shot when it was clear the gobbler and his buddy were about to leave.

I could tell I hit him, but he was able to get airborne. I watched him fly to the top of an 80 foot oak and land in it. I ran after him and was ready to try to shoot him out.

Just before I got there, I saw him waver and fall 80 feet to the ground....THUNK....tenderized turkey!

He didn't have many pellets in him, but just enough to get the job done.

Try shooting one flying next time thats fun.lol they are a little slower than a dove but still move pretty fast

Had the boss gobbler pitch out of his roosting tree 80 yards away into a tree above me last weekend. His hens were all out in front of me. I chose not to shoot him in the tree, but I did kill him after he pitched down.

In case some missed it, I did call both of them in. They both gobbled quite a bit but when they came in it was so thick that the lead bird got nervous and flew up in the tree to get a better view. After 5 minutes or so of trying to coax him down I decided it was now or never.
