I was flipping through the Gander Mtn flyer I received in the mail (I usually give it about 5 min of my time before it hits the trash can) and noticed a .22 with a muzzle break/flash suppressor. Why would you need that on a $200 semi-auto rimfire rifle? It seems pointless to me but maybe I was wrong. Just for looks?

I can explain it in a single word: Tacti-cool.

If it's black and looks tactical, people will buy it.

That's kinda what I figured - simply a marketing tool. I just wondered if I was missing something.

Flash suppressors are cool. They must be. They have them on air soft guns.

I guess if you were gonna shoot at someone with a 22 you would want a flash suppressor because you definitely would not want the shootee shooting back at you because he might have something with a lot more oomph.

Flash suppressors block the flash for the shooter, not the target.
