Oh, I thought it was going to be about hunting from blinds or stalking birds and not getting the full experience :D !

BTW, I agree with him. I can't recall the "stats" on any of my four birds this year, but I sure do remember the hunts.

In fact, I had my best hunt of the year this morning with my dad, but we came home empty handed.

I'm with you, I have no clue nor do I care what my birds score. Every Longbeard is a good Longbeard to me

X2! I don't know of any turkey hunter that waits until he can size up the spurs before shooting. Full fan or long beard = dead bird.

I have seen folks on this very forum claim they scout out spur size before pulling the trigger. I find it hard to believe, but I guess it is possible. This sport TO ME is all about the chess match, and the thrill of interacting with the critter I am trying to kill. If he plays the game and is willing to gobble and comes to the call, he dies if his beard is long and fan is full.

I have killed an absolute crap load of turkeys, and get just as much rush out of a 2 year old bird as I do with a 5 or 6 year old limbhanger. I know a bunch of other extremely seasoned hunters who think the same way.
