Fake Slide?

Looks more like he was going to slide then saw a opening then took it.

Honestly I put more blame on Wake Forrest for letting up on the gas . They should have not let up off the brakes until the QB was clearly down.

I happened to see it live, and immediately thought it was a move that shouldn't be allowed.

QB's are very, VERY protected by the rules. They shouldn't be able to use those rules to their advantage.

No disrespect that QB for doing it. He was within the rules and made a smart play.

You are correct. I suspect a rule change will be forthcoming.

Jack Lambert said it best: Quarterbacks should wear dresses.

While I understand some protection of a QB falling back to pass and immobile in the pocket, once he starts running at all he should be treated the same as any other ball carrier. You want to run like a fullback: Get ready for a hit like a fullback.

How are they treated any differently by the rules? Fullbacks can slide if they want to...

If that's true, even more reason for the rule to be gone. Football is used to be a contact sport. You want to slide, play baseball.

Thank you. So glad u said that.

I'm actually surprised the NCAA is changing the regs. Instead, they should just pass the word that a fake slide is considered unsportsmanlike conduct and penalize accordingly; in fact, they should have done that with that play.

I tend to agree with Ruger. Once he crosses the line of scrimmage he should be no different than any player. Want to play like a running back or receiver? Then be treated like such. Of course I am sorta old school and have a problem with them protecting the QB period. Seems like they are the one holding the ball and should be fair game.

I agree with you on this.
